Re: First Soccer Player Comes Out As Gay

Coming out as gay is so 1980's.. Today try to come out that you are NOT gay and will never be one, and see how fast they'll cancel you.

Re: Killer robot a reality

What if it's used for policing / crowd control? Is a group of "illegal protesters" bad guys enough to be killed if they refuse to go home? If you deploy such drones against "illegal protesters" domestically you kinda already made up your mind, there are options for such police s...

Re: Killer robot a reality

I had an impression that a swarm of killer drones was meant to be used in a civil war scenario rather than an war with a foreign country, which could simply be nuked. Same logic still applies. If it's an armed individual/group, shooting at the drone - kill them. If armed but not shooting - ask the ...

Better for what? I didn't get your implication.
You mean better to kill someone this way rather than with novichok? It depends. If you want international outcry and more sanctions on Russia - novichok is better.

Re: Alec Baldwin kills cinematographer and injures director with a gun

Only in America you can shoot someone in the chest, without checking the gun yourself first. It's specialization done to the extremes.

Re: Killer robot a reality

Same thing with interpreting goals. "Kill the bad guys" requires understanding what a "bad guy" is. And this is not trivial even for humans. No, this one is actually very simple. The bad guys are those who fight us, or staying in our way. And if you start sympathizing them - you...

Re: Killer robot a reality

I think even current AI is capable of distinguishing one car (model/color) from the other if you feed enough data to it. Basically dozen or so drones going round circles and scanning the area, when target car spotted - attack with the entire swarm. Microwaves? Again the drone can be EMI shielded, y...

Re: What are the benefits of systemd?

Installed Debian 11. Now can't take control of resolv.conf, some piece of shit resets it to default and I have no internet... fuck this, 30 minutes already sunk, no progress, I tried to kill/disable systemd-resolved.service no luck, I tried to edit /etc/systemd/resolved.conf (Why do we have TWO file...

Re: PinePhone

I think they reviewed one in Linus whatever it's called, the youtube channel. And it is basically slow as fuck, I also don't see the reason you should recreate desktop setup (dmenu, st, dwm) on your phone, you can't type that well. The touchscreen forces you to use icon driven interface.

Re: What inspired Win11 look?

Windows will never be discontinued or switched to linux kernel. There is chance that it will become free at some point. 1) Microsoft collects data of Windows users (data is 21st century gold), all products which collect data are free, Windows is all of that data collection + licence price on top. 2)...

I use freecad frequently it's more than enough for home use. You just have to get used to it. I try to never compare free and proprietary software. It's like comparing freedom and a cocaine stripe + a hooker before they lock you up in their cage forever. Of course if you are already a cocaine junkie...

Re: Killer robot a reality

If LiDAR reflections can get through the faraday cage, then so can anti-drone lasers. Either there is a way to get outside information in, or there isn’t. Radio waves/pulses are not digital, it's not 1 or 0, you can suppress 98% of energy by encapsulating most of electronics, of course there will b...

Re: Killer robot a reality

Debunking the technical details is irrelevant since those drones are not the real thing, though for the sake of the argument one can easily replace the explosive charge with a poisoned needle. I almost want to see this happening, then finally such armor becomes a necessity https://i.pinimg.com/736x...

Re: Killer robot a reality

btw I don't think it is possible, even in theory. Such small drone is only grams in weight, I had one, it can't even fight mild wind on its own. And even if you could attach some explosive it will never go really fast with it. And even if it could go really fast the energy of explosive will go all ...

Re: Devuan 4.0 Released As Debian 11 Without Systemd

The whole point of Devuan is that it was born as Debian without systemd. Two different projects. What led you to believe that Debian plans to drop systemd?
